Paul Racs
Director, Office of Community Beautification
Paul Racs has worked with the Los Angeles Office of Community Beautification (OCB) since it was initiated by Mayor Tom Bradley in 1987. He started as one of the original three Community Coordinators, tasked with getting the new program off the ground. He has served as Director of OCB since 2006. In that role he has oversight of the citywide graffiti removal program, volunteer cleanup projects, Keep Los Angeles Beautiful, Public Right-of-Way cleanup, Adoption of public spaces, and several other projects, with an emphasis on community engagement and beautification.
Paul was raised in Altadena/Pasadena, but has been a resident of the City of Los Angeles since 1992. He obtained a degree in Political Science from the University of California Santa Barbara. Contact: paul.racs@lacity.org / 213-978-0229
Gerry Valido
Assistant Director, Coordinator for CD 3, CD 7, CD 11, and CD 12
Gerry Valido is the Assistant Director of the Office of Community Beautification. He is a proud member of what he calls the “Bradley Generation,” of City employees, having started his City service over 30 years ago. Gerry has worked in 8 different City offices, with the Personnel, Transportation, Public Works, Building and Safety, Police and Fire Departments, and brings a wealth of institutional City experience to his position. As the Asst. Director, his goal is to promote unwavering dedication from OCB and its contractors to deliver services in the most efficient and timeliest manner possible. Karina Casillas
Community Coordinator for CD 1, CD 4, CD 10, and CD 13
Since joining the City of Los Angeles, Karina has been a pioneer in sharing access to City resources and services. Her career in public service led her to the Office of Community Beautification (OCB) where, as a management analyst she continues her efforts to empowering the communities of L.A. to play an active role. In her current role, she manages the graffiti abatement teams in CD 1,4, 13 and assists the residents of those neighborhoods with community cleanups, educational beautification workshops, and related special events such as the Annual Beautification Conference. Karina strives to make LA greener, cleaner, and a more sustainable place to live, work, and play.
Born and raised in Santa Ana, she moved to LA to attend USC. Karina graduated with a dual degree in Policy, Planning, and Development & American Studies and Ethnicity from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Contact: karina.casillas@lacity.org / 213-978-0227
Thomas Corrales
Community Coordinator for CD 8, CD 9, CD 14 and CD 15
Thomas has been working with the Office of Community Beautification for over 20 years, within those years he passionately assisted the constituents from the City of Los Angeles. Before coming to the City Thomas worked at a nonprofit as a graffiti supervisor for 4 years. The experience he gained from working with the nonprofit has helped him work closely with the various community-based organizations that provide graffiti removal services for the City of Los Angeles. Ana Huizar
Community Coordinator for CD 2, CD 5, and CD 6
As a Community Coordinator for the Board of Public Works, Ana Huizar recognizes the significance of building partnerships to create and maintain beautiful communities within the City of Los Angeles. Through her role, she has successfully coordinated numerous community cleanups, beautification workshops, and most recently, the Keep Los Angeles Second Annual Beautification Conference. In addition to her community engagement work, Ana assists with contract management.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Urban Management. In her spare time, Ana enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, and hiking with Luna – her long-haired German Shepherd. Contact: ana.huizar@lacity.org / 213-978-0224

Sal Del Castillo
OCB Warehouse Personnel
Sal supervises the OCB warehouse. He oversees all shipping and receiving operations to be included in inventory control. Sal is a Los Angeles native who enjoys swimming and attending weekend cleanups.
